Today, 26 January 2026, marked the official launch of the Malta School Games Torch Relay, a symbolic moment that sets the spirit of the Games in motion. The launch ceremony was proudly hosted by De La Salle College, following their win in the MSG STEAM Treasure Hunt, earning them the honour of opening this important national journey.
From today, the MSG torch will begin its journey across all State Colleges, as well as a number of Church and Independent Schools, symbolising unity, participation and school spirit. The relay will culminate at the Malta School Games Opening Ceremony, where the torch will complete its final leg.
The torch represents teamwork, inclusion, determination and the joy of participation, values that lie at the heart of the Malta School Games. As it travels from school to school, it carries with it a shared commitment to sport, personal growth and excellence, fully reflecting the MSG motto:
Play. Grow. Excel.
At the Opening Ceremony, the torch will light the Malta School Games ceremonial urn, officially igniting the Games and celebrating the collective journey of students across Malta and Gozo.
A special well done goes to De La Salle College for hosting an impeccable event, and to all the students who participated, whose enthusiasm and energy made today’s launch a true success. May this torch continue to inspire young athletes as the Malta School Games journey unfolds.
