Malta School Games 2026 Update – 23rd February

The journey of the Malta School Games Torch continued on 23rd February with a significant milestone as the torch was officially handed over from San Anton School to the first State College, Saint Thomas More College, during a special ceremony held at Santa Luċija Secondary School.

The event brought together students, educators, and organisers to celebrate the values that lie at the heart of the Malta School Games. The torch was welcomed in a vibrant and energetic atmosphere, starting with an impressive dance performance by students from the Malta Visual and Performing Arts School (MVPA). Their performance set the tone for the celebration and reflected the creativity and enthusiasm that characterise the Games.

Following this, students from Santa Luċija Secondary School presented a carefully prepared programme that showcased their talent, teamwork, and school spirit. The event highlighted the strong sense of community and excitement surrounding the Malta School Games as the torch continues its journey across schools in Malta and Gozo.

A particularly special moment during the ceremony was the official launch of the Malta School Games 2026 song, titled “Logħob li Jgħaqqadna.” The song serves as the official anthem of the Games and beautifully captures the values of unity, teamwork, friendship, and sportsmanship that the initiative promotes among students.

The anthem was created through the collaboration of talented artists.

 Special recognition goes to:

👏 Augusto Cardinali for writing the inspiring lyrics
🎼 Philip Vella for composing the music
🎤 Glen Vella, whose powerful performance brought the song to life with energy and passion

The launch of Logħob li Jgħaqqadna marks an important moment for the Malta School Games, providing a musical symbol that will accompany students and schools throughout the Games and help strengthen the shared spirit of participation and celebration.

As the torch continues its journey from school to school, it carries with it the message that sport has the power to bring people together, build friendships, and inspire young athletes to give their best.
