On 22nd April, the MSG Torch marked another important milestone as it was passed from San Ġorġ Preca College to Santa Margerita College in a unique and symbolic sea crossing by traditional regatta boats.
The torch was handed from one coxswain to another and carried aboard regatta boats from Bormla, Birgu, Isla, and Kalkara, before making its ceremonial entrance into the Cospicua Creek. There, students from all SMC schools were eagerly awaiting its arrival.
SMC students were joined by their peers from SGPC, and together they participated in a relay around the creek, celebrating unity and the spirit of the Games. The event continued with performances by Amber and Glen Vella, who performed the official MSG song, followed by vibrant dance performances by students from the primary schools.
This special occasion would not have been possible without the support of the regatta clubs and the student rowers, whose contribution helped make the event truly memorable.
Well done to both SMC and SGPC for the excellent organisation, and to the Kottonera Foundation for their valuable role in the coordination of this event.
